OS map of Lacock 1886

Ordnance Survey Maps were first produced by lieutenant-colonel David Watson who suggested the idea to map the Scottish highlands to subjugate the clans following the Jacobite rebellion in 1745.

In 1801, the first one inch to the mile map was published detailing the county of Kent.  However, the whole of Great Britain was not recorded in this method until 1891.

As can be seen Lacock has not changed significantly since 1886.  The only major change is the loss of the working Abbey Farm (which is often referred to as Manor Farm).
