Different kinds of maps survive in considerable numbers from the 17th century. The principal categories are commercial, estate, enclosure, tithe and Ordnance Survey. There is no common scale to these maps until the arrival of the Ordnance Survey in the 19th century. Most important of all the coverage is uneven until the Ordnance Survey, and therefore what maps may exist for one village or town will not necessarily be available for another.
For further details of what we hold please consult our catalogue.
Please note that this catalogue will be useful for estate maps, tithe maps and enclosure maps but will not include the published Ordnance Survey series.
