­The Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre houses a comprehensive Local Studies Collection consisting of over 50,000 items dating from the 17th century to the present day.

The largest collection focusing on the county of Wiltshire in the world. It has become a centre for local history research.

Wiltshire Buildings Record

Comprehensive files and information about historic buildings within the county.

The collection is a unique archive of the buildings people have lived and worked in over the centuries.

Archaeology Services

Records, advice and information on Wiltshire’s archaeology.

The Archaeology Service now forms part of the facilities provided by Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre.

Archaeology Service has a duty of identifying, recording and protecting Wiltshire´s archaeology by advising planning departments and negotiating with landowners and developers.

Conservation and Museums Advisory Service

Providing conservation advice and practical treatments to heritage organisations and the public.

Stonehenge Prints

We are offering copies of various 18th and 19th century prints.

2018 marks the centenary of the gift of Stonehenge to the nation by local barrister Cecil Chubb and his wife Mary.
