Our copying services and charges

There are no charges for visiting Wiltshire and Swindon Archives but charges do apply if you want to copy any documents. We will advise on what may be copied and the most suitable method. You are welcome to take photographs with your own camera, provided you ask permission first and pay a standard fee (see below). If you wish to publish documents or make lengthy quotations you should first consult a member of staff.

All remote orders are subject to a minimum charge of £9.50. Please email archives@wiltshire.gov.uk or call us on 01249 705500 to request a quote.

Our digital copying service forms part of our paid research service which is charged at £19 per half hour inclusive of VAT.

Overseas orders must be paid for in pounds sterling.

Photocopy by staff for on-site customers:

Black and white: 80p A4; £1.10 A3

Colour: £1.50 A4; £2.20 A3

All material must be photocopied by a trained member of the team. Some original documents such as rolled plans, multi-membrane indentures and documents with hanging wax seals cannot be photocopied for conservation reasons. In this case, the items will be photographed digitally as part of our paid research service (see below)

Express paid research, digital photography, photocopying for remote customers, and microform printing service by staff (3 days):

Reproduction fees: please email archives@wiltshire.gov.uk to discuss any reproduction of images as copyright permissions will need to be checked in all cases.
