I studied conservation and care of collections at Cardiff University, before working in collections management and curatorial roles in Accredited museums for fifteen years.

I joined the Conservation & Museums Advisory Service in 2015, and work with museums in Wiltshire to help them meet professional standards, looking at areas such as accreditation, forward planning, fundraising, recruiting volunteers, training, collecting historic items, their documentation and care, and audience development. As Museum Development Officer for Wiltshire, I work closely with South West Museum Development.

I love exploring the history and collections around the county, getting to see behind the scenes at the museums and working with wonderful, enthusiastic staff and volunteers.

I have over 20 years of experience working within the museums and heritage sector, both in the UK and abroad. I initially studied for a joint honours Archaeology & Anthropology degree, followed by a Museums Studies MA, and began working in museums in a collections care and management capacity. Further training in conservation (City & Guilds: Conservation Diploma; UCL: Conservation MSc) led to becoming an objects conservator, working with a wide range of materials and collections, including archaeology, social history, architecture and world cultures. I have since worked for several organisations, including Hirst Conservation, Bevaringstenestene (Norway), St Albans Museums and the Palace of Westminster, and have been privileged to have been heavily involved in some exciting projects, including the development of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Galleries at Westminster Abbey, and the opening of a new museum for St Albans Museums. I became accredited in Objects Conservation and Conservation Management in 2019, and moved to Wiltshire Council Conservation and Museums Advisory Service (CMAS) in 2021.

As Senior Conservator at CMAS I co-ordinate the Conservation Services, working with a broad range of clients from across the heritage sector to develop holistic, long-term solutions for conservation issues through advice, training, preventive and remedial approaches.

I entered conservation after graduating with a BA Honours degree in Conservation & Restoration from the University of Lincoln in 2008. I spent the proceeding 4 years working for the Science Museum Group in London in a variety of conservation roles. In 2012 I relocated to the South West, working for the National Trust at Stourhead House. I took a side step into the 3D Printing Sector between 2013-2018 working for a bioplastics manufacturer, which provided insight into 3D Design and Printing. This experience has been utilised upon returning to conservation during object treatments, as an Object Conservator for the National Collections Centre, part of The Science Museum Group based in Wiltshire between 2018-2019.

Throughout my career I have gained experience working on exhibitions and loans, but also digitisation projects, preventative conservation, and providing training. As a Conservator for the Conservation Museums Advisory Service, I hope to utilise my experience of medical and social history collections whilst carrying out object treatment, and share my knowledge with individuals and museums across Wiltshire.

I studied with the Open University to gain a BA (Hons) degree in Humanities with Art History and Classical Studies. I then became a volunteer Gallery Steward at the Holburne Museum, Bath where I helped inform visitors about current exhibitions and events, whilst ensuring the safety of the collection. I have also volunteered at the Chippenham Museum and Heritage Centre, where I worked on a project to organise, catalogue and photograph a collection of items from Westinghouse Brakes and Signals Ltd.

Over the past fourteen years I have built up a wide range of administration experience in accounts, sales and supply chain. I joined the CMAS team in 2019 where my role combines these skills along with my passion for art, history and heritage preservation.
